What to Expect in the 5th grade
Welcome to 5th grade! You, your child, and the 5th grade teachers all form a team! A rewarding year will be accomplished by working together. We are all part of the success! Here are a few important things to know about 5th grade.
Reading:
Focus on genre study and text dependent analysis as well as accumulating academic vocabulary, comparing texts, and using figurative language.
Math:
Concentrating on the place value system into decimals, expanded form, multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals, measurement conversion, and geometrical attributes.
Social Studies
Exploring the original Thirteen Colonies, Revolutionary War, and the formation of the United States.
Science:
Investigating the structure of cells, animal instincts and behaviors, ecosystems, and motion and design.
